How to Use the AI Detector

Our AI detection technology identifies machine-generated content with consistently high accuracy. This guide will show you how to use our detector to analyze text and determine if it was generated by AI.

Table of Contents

Accessing the Detector

  1. Log in to your mask.ai account
  2. Navigate to the detector using one of these methods:
    • Click the "Check for AI-written text" button on your dashboard
    • Select "AI Detector" from the side navigation bar

Alternatively, access the AI detector directly at mask.ai/detector.

Preparing Your Text

For optimal results:

  1. Check your text length: Our detector works on content between 30-2500 words
  2. Preserve formatting: Removing basic formatting like paragraphs and headings is optional

Tip: For most accurate detection, submit at least 100 words of text for analysis. AI detection is most accurate with complete paragraphs rather than short phrases or bullet points.

Scanning Your Content

  1. Paste the text you want to analyze in the input field
  2. Click "Scan for AI" to process your content

  1. Wait for the detection process to complete (typically 1-5 seconds)
  2. (Optional) If your content was detected as AI, click the "Humanize Now" button to humanize your content

Understanding Results

After processing, you'll receive detailed results about the analyzed text:

Overall Assessment

  • Your text was identified as AI: Almost certainly AI-generated. Contains distinctive AI language patterns and markers.
  • Your text was identified as Human: Undetectable as AI-generated. Contains human writing patterns and markers.
  • Mixed or Uncertain: Contains both AI and human writing characteristics. We recommend humanization to avoid AI detection.

Detailed Metrics

  • Overall AI probability score: Percentage likelihood of AI generation
  • Individual AI detector scores: Results from multiple detection algorithms
  • Sentence-by-sentence breakdown: Highlighting which parts appear AI-generated

Tip: We use multiple detectors to evaluate AI likelihood with the highest accuracy. Even the best AI detectors occasionally flag genuine human writing as AI-generated, especially with technical or highly structured content. Consider the context and writing style when interpreting results.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Detection seems inaccurate:

  • Ensure you've submitted enough text (100+ words)
  • Consider that some human writing styles may trigger false positives

Unable to process text:

  • Check that your text doesn't exceed maximum length limits and isn't below the minimum length (30 words)
  • Try refreshing your browser and attempting again

Inconsistent results:

  • AI detection technology works on probability; borderline cases may vary
  • Different sections of text may have different AI characteristics

Tip: If you receive different results when analyzing the same text multiple times, this often indicates the content falls in a "gray area" between human and AI writing. Consider this a yellow flag and examine the content more carefully.
